Installing Machine Screw Anchors

Purchase Machine Screw Anchors OnlineInstalling machine screw anchors can be accomplished in four simple steps described below. Machine screws are used in light to medium applications with concrete, brick, block or stone. These anchors are unique since they can fit into irregular holes. Concrete machine screws have two parts and each screw anchor has its own setting tool.

Machine Screw Anchor Installation Step 1

1. Drill hole the recommended diameter into the base material.

Machine Screw Anchor Installation Step 2

2. Clean debris from hole and insert machine screw anchor into hole, threaded cone part first.

Machine Screw Anchor Installation Step 3

3. Insert set-tool in to anchor. Using a hammer hit the setting tool, until anchor is set.

Machine Screw Anchor Installation Step 4

4. Set fixture over anchor and insert machine threaded bolt through the fixture and into the anchor.

Machine Screw Anchor Detailed Installation Instructions

It is important to note that machine screw anchors are female concrete anchors that are designed for use in solid concrete, brick or block base material. The machine screw anchor size is designated by the inside diameter of the anchor. The diameter of the hole to be drilled is the same size as the outside diameter of the machine screw anchor. For example, a 1/4" machine screw anchor requires a 1/2" hole.

A hole needs to be drilled into the base material before a machine screw anchor can be used in an application. A hammer drill is the best tool to use because it will create the best quality hole. Once the bit is chucked into the hammer drill, the depth of the hole to be drilled can easily be set by using the depth gauge on the hammer drill or by simply wrapping the bit with tape at the depth that is required. Before starting to drill the hole, it is important that eye and ear protection is used and that you ensure that the hammer drill is in hammer mode. After these safety precautions have been completed, drilling can begin. Continue drilling until you reach the required depth in the concrete, brick or block. The hole must be cleaned of all concrete dust to ensure proper fastening. Proper cleaning can be achieved by using a wire brush and a vacuum or compressed air. Insert the machine screw anchor with the open end facing up. Tap lightly to get the anchor flush with the base material. Take the setting tool and insert it into the anchor. Strike the setting tool with a hammer until the lip of the anchor touches the lip of the setting tool. This will ensure the anchor is properly set. Place the fixture over the anchor and insert the machine-threaded bolt through the fixture and into the anchor. Tighten down until the fixture is secure. Continue this process until all of the required number of machine screws has been installed for your application.
